Gabriel hadn't intended to go to the Concert Hall today. But while he was out and about, a friend had called him up asking for him to go and jam with them. He had tried to tell them that he was going to meet a friend, which was untrue because he was only looking for someone. No meeting had been planned. They told him he could do that later. So then he told them he didn't have his guitar with him; this was pushed down the drain by them offering to let him borrow one of theirs. After blowing down all of his excuses, they accused him of trying to avoid playing any music because of his catastrophe with his old band awhile back. This was simply untrue - at least that was what he told them.
He wasn't quite sure the real reason he was avoiding them. Back at his apartment he played his instruments, but it had been quite awhile since he had brought them out. That was mainly at the chance of someone else hearing him. But finally he agreed to go and that was how he ended up on the stage of the Concert Hall, playing music with the group. He refused to sing with them, though for fear of someone hearing that as well.
They only ended up playing a few songs, however. But he admitted to himself, silently, that it felt good to play out in the open again.
"So does this mean you will come out and play more often?" asked one of the guys before they all slipped off.
"I don't know. I'll have to think about it," he replied, looking down at the guitar in his hands.
"Well, when you're finished with the guitar, just put it in the back with the other instruments."
"Sure, I will." He looked up only when he was sure they were all gone. He knew it wasn't their fault what happened to him; it was his. And of course he was ashamed about it as well. It was the whole reason he didn't play out in the open when there was a chance someone would notice. After a quick glance around to notice it was still empty, he played a piece from Claudio Monteverdi - classical music. It was one of his favorite genres to play. Vocals or none, the instrumental part always sounded amazing to him.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ryan walked through the halls to the concert hall. Ivy was on her leach guiding him to his destination. He felt much better now than he did a couple days ago. He had gotten the flu again. Ryan didn’t understand how you had gotten sick yet again. But he was glad that Fidel was there taking care of him. Though He couldn’t help but feel like he was just being a bother to the other boy. But he knew that he wasn’t being a bother to Fidel. Ryan was glad he felt better and couldn’t take being in his dorm room anymore; he had to get out and do something. Ryan first thought about the beach but it was day time and he didn’t like going to the beach with so many people who meant during the day.
Ryan smiled and giggled at the thought of holding Fidel’s hand while walking down the beach. Yes it was a bit sissy but Ryan didn’t really care. Ryan felt Ivy pull a certain direction and followed. Ryan felt like people were staring at him and knew they probably were. Ryan had gotten quite used to the feeling of people staring at him and the feeling of someone watching him. But just because he had gotten used to it doesn’t mean he likes it. He really disliked it, in fact maybe even hated it. But the feeling will always be there he knew it. For he didn’t think people would just stop staring. Though the reason behind the stares he did not know. For it could be any reason; but he knew what the reason was most of the time.
Ivy stopped and sat down next to him. By her doing this Ryan knew he was at the concert hall; for she wouldn’t have sat down if they weren’t at their destination. Ryan walked in and heard someone already playing the guitar. Before Ryan had always been lucky and came when no one else was here; guess his luck ran out. But he really liked the music. It was classical he could tell. He went and sat in one of the chairs in the very back row. When the person stopped playing he clapped his hands; not fast but slow. Ryan got up and walked toward the stage. He had come here often so he knew his way around but Ivy his golden retriever was still at his side. “That was pretty good.” He praised the person playing. Ryan wondered if it was anyone he knew that was playing. He waited for the person to speak to see if it was anyone he knew.

The music was soothing to him. It wasn't a very slow song, but it wasn't too fast paced either. He had the same song on his ipod back in his apartment, but it had been awhile since he had truly sat down and listened to any music, let alone play anything. His fingers felt a little sore when pressing on the strings from his lack of playing in awhile. Gabriel did get quite caught up in his music when he played sometimes, so it wasn't surprising that he didn't notice the person sitting down in the audience area.
His attention was brought to them by the sound of clapping, in which he looked up to spot the source. In the Concert Hall, the sounds carried a bit so it was a little hard to directly pinpoint the source, but he soon noticed it as the person started his way. He wasn't sure what he expected the guy to say exactly. But it must be something positive if it was about his music, considering he had clapped at the ending, right? Unless it had a sarcastic meaning. It was, after all, slower. But then what did he expect? Someone to start clapping enthusiastically as if he had just made a masterpiece?
“That was pretty good.”
He actually felt slightly relieved after hearing this. It felt kind of nice to get compliments again, which made him smile. "Thanks. I'm out of practice, but I suppose it was good for a comeback." Although he wasn't sure if it was really a comeback. Maybe a spur of the moment thing that he had gotten trapped into doing just that one time. He laid the guitar carefully to the side. "Do you play or do you just like to listen?" he asked curiously.
Honestly there seemed to be quite a few people who liked to play from his music classes, but he never saw anybody at the Concert Hall. Even though he had been avoiding the place, it didn't mean he didn't look from a distance. A few times he had even shifted and flown over it - perhaps he just had bad timing.
"A concert here in the next week or so would be a nice change." Or an outdoor concert perhaps. He would feel a little more normal with that kind of stuff. "Oh, right. I'm Gabriel, by the way." For some reason he always forgot to introduce himself, and then ten minutes into meeting them he finally remembered.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ryan never heard the song before. But it was still pretty good. He really liked classical music. It was fun to play and had emotional depth to it. It liked playing piano to classical music; though he might also like play Violin to it too. Ryan started taking violin lessons not too long ago from Suki. She was in college and offered to teach him violin. He liked the lessons; Suki was a nice woman and didn’t mind teaching him and having to work around his blindness. Ryan usually taught himself to play an instrument. He actually taught himself to play the guitar, bass, and piano. Though he didn’t teach himself how to read music notes; that someone taught him to do. Ryan thought it was nice to have that bond with Suki as a teacher and be friends with her also.
Ryan put his hand on the rows of chairs as he walked by; feeling the rough texture of the seating as his hand glides over it. Ryan stopped once he got past the very first row and sat down randomly in a chair. “Sorry for the slow clapping, you might be thinking it was a sarcastic clap. I know I would. But it really wasn’t. I know the concert hall makes echoes and I don’t do well with loud noises for the most part.“ Ryan explained now that he thought about the clapping. He would have thought it was a sarcastic clap and would have said a smart remark about it. Ryan put his one leg underneath him and the other one bended toward his chest resting on the edge of the chair. Ryan looked straight in front of him surrounded by pitch black, he relied heavily on his hearing.
Ryan blinked and shrugged; “It’s quite all right. You sounded just fine.” Ryan also played but he never just stopped playing. He would stop for a couple days from playing or whatever; but never a long period of time. He couldn’t go playing that long; music was too much of an outlet for him. Ryan raised his eyebrow to the other boy’s question. “I can play the guitar, bass, piano, and learning how to play the violin. So to answer your question in one word; yes” He answered and gave a warm smile, his German accent following each word he spoke. “But I also like to hear other people play too; it’s nice to just sit and listen once in awhile. Though it does make you want to start playing with them” Ryan rested his arm on his knee that was near his chest.
Ryan thought about it. It would be nice to have a concert here. It would be even nicer if he could be in it. “Yes it would be a nice change. This concert hall doesn’t get much use. It would be really nice to listen to people play and hear how good everyone is.” Ryan tired to avoid using the word see. Though he didn’t have a problem with saying it, just if he could avoid using it he would. Not to mention the word hear working more than the word see. Though he wasn’t sure how much he would like to hear it if they did have one. It would probably be loud and he had sensitive hearing since he was blind. ‘Gabriel… why did that name sound familiar?’ Ryan bit his lip; ‘was this the same Gabriel from online?’ He now felt a bit awkward. “Eh? Ryan; nice to meet you.” He introduced himself. this is you thinking !

“Sorry for the slow clapping, you might be thinking it was a sarcastic clap. I know I would. But it really wasn’t. I know the concert hall makes echoes and I don’t do well with loud noises for the most part.“
"It's okay. Any clapping is better than none." He didn't want to admit that he had been wondering whether it was meant to be sarcastic or not, but he had praised him afterwards so he had just assumed it was in good intentions. Gabriel didn't get claps very often, but then most people didn't hear him play. He hadn't gotten any since he was kicked out of his band and that had been quite awhile ago. "That's quite a few instruments," he said surprised, as he listed the instruments he could play.
"I play the guitar and the piano. I can read the notes, but I don't often try to learn songs that much anymore." He thought the violin sounded nice, but it wasn't an instrument for him. He nodded in agreement with what he was saying. It was nice to sit and listen, or stand up, depending on what you were doing. Like with some concerts, where people stood up and danced along. Gabriel noticed there was something a little different about this boy, but he couldn't pin point it. He wasn't quite looking at him when he talked, but he didn't think it was because he was avoiding his gaze.
He picked up the guitar again and started plucking the strings to a tune he had heard once, but kept it low so that he could still hear each other talking. It was a slow tune anyways and pure instrumental. "Yeah, but I think it doesn't get much use because of where we are." He bet if he mentioned it to ten different people, he would be lucky if even one of them knew where he was talking about.
“Eh? Ryan; nice to meet you.”
Gabriel nodded at the mention of his name, his attention still on the strings as he played the melody in his head. Suddenly he stopped and looked up at the boy, studying him. His name sounded familiar. Not that it was an uncommon name, but it was familiar in another sort. He didn't remember seeing his around the college, so perhaps he didn't go there. Then he thought about the chat; he had seen a lot of people on there, but he suddenly realized that was exactly where he knew him from.
He and Dymetri didn't seem to get along, but he didn't quite know the whole story about that. Although it was a casual thing between them two and he didn't want to get caught up in Ryan and Dymetri's problems. He was hoping that he was wrong, but he was pretty sure that he wasn't. "Are you...the same Ryan from the online chat?"
