Woah, Mona Lisa, I'd pay to see you frown He senses something, call it desperation Another dollar, another day And if she had the proper words to say, ( She would tell him But she'd have nothing left to sell him --------------- ! ) With a swift movement her laptop made a clicking noise. It was nice to get out, especially if it meant out of a stuffy library. Rochette stood up and stretched before shoving her books and laptop into her bag. It was going to be a fun lunch. Etta was meeting her roommate Sophie at Yummy Tummie's Restaurant in ten minutes. She was about 20 minutes away from the restaurant. So she might be a little late, but that was alright, she could always run there to make up time.
Rochette walked through the library doors into fresh air. She inhaled and sighed happily she stood there for a moment. Clean air. The best thing in the world… apart from maybe food. Etta thought before making her way towards the restaurant. Maybe I will bump into Sophie on the way there… ah well I guess I should get my head phones out. Let the time pass. Have a little fun! Rochette began to rummage through her bag looking for her iPod and head set. Once she found them she put the headphones over her ears and plugged them into her now blasting iPod.
Etta yawned and stretched some more. She was walking to the beat of the music as she normally did. Rochette was muttering the words while looking around at the buildings. They were mainly school buildings and dormitories. She couldn’t wait to get off campus and just roam a little more freely. She felt the warm sun on her skin and she couldn’t help but want the cold. The song changed to a more fast paced song, which made her walk faster. Her stomach growled.
“I better get there soon before I eat someone.” She muttered to herself jokingly. She was now wandering off campus so she had to keep quiet. It would be a challenge due to her social nature. It was a better day than normal. The news that Rin had left was great news. She was feeling ten times better than before.
She took a deep breath in and Etta could smell the food in the distance. “Good, I hope they have some sort of meat…” Rochette began to mutter to herself about kinds of foods she enjoyed. People were giving her looks, which she ignored as much as possible. She took off her headphones and pushed bother her iPod and headphones into her bag as she approached the restaurant.

Sophie sighed as she shut her laptop and looked at her sketch book. She had been working on a sketch of a fox sitting between bushes. She was really trying on this one and it was turning out pretty good. The fox had all the right proportions and what not. The bushes were simple lines not yet in detail. She was waiting to do that until the fox was done. Placing her hand on the laptop, Sophie couldn’t believe she had just asked her roommate to go to lunch with her. She wasn’t very happy about it but Nicholas would be. That’s what counts.
Sophie sat up and stretched before hoping down from the bed. She looked around the room and saw Rochette’s things on her bed along with Skyler. She slid on her flip flops and contemplated changing into something more comfortable but decided against it. She liked the outfit she was wearing. Besides, she was only going out to lunch with her roommate. Rochette had seen her sleep at night. She wouldn’t mind. Right?
Sophie grabbed her bag and her phone. She held onto her phone like it was a life line and she slid her bag over her shoulder so it crossed her body. She grabbed the key to her room and left. She walked out of the dorm building and outside where she saw all the other people who lived on campus. She looked down at her feet and walked through everyone without looking at them. Sophie quickened her steps to get away from the crowd of people.
Still walking, Sophie wished she had grabbed her iPod to clear out the noise she was hearing around her. She heard students talking about life, boyfriends, girlfriends, and things she didn’t want to hear or know about. Sophie shook her head and continued to walk into town hoping to find Rochette along the way.
She tried to think back to where they were going. It was a weird name, something she had never heard of before. It was Yummy…. Tummy maybe? Something like that. What she was said was true, she had never eaten at any of the restaurants here before. She always ate in the cafeteria and never anywhere else. Except today though.
She hoped it wouldn’t be awkward. Rochette seemed nice and was actually pretty easy to talk to. Sophie found that she felt comfortable about Rochette. Maybe that meant this lunch was suppose to go well. She was always talking to her in the chat and sometimes in the dorm. Usually Sophie was the only one in there because it was where she liked to be. Plus her other roommates were hardly ever in there.
Sophie rounded the corner with those thoughts in her head and saw Rochette standing in front of the restaurant.

Woah, Mona Lisa, I'd pay to see you frown He senses something, call it desperation Another dollar, another day And if she had the proper words to say, ( She would tell him But she'd have nothing left to sell him --------------- ! )
Rochette stood there happily watching the crowd of talkative people walk by. She was looking for social tendencies she could use later in one of her papers and her own curiosity. Not only that but she was critiquing facial appearance. First impressions are the most important of all. She thought watching a student in their pyjama’s. Hahaha, it’s Sophie… too lazy to change. Well I am one to talk. “Hey Sophie!” She waved pleasantly. “So it’s your first time here right? Well it’s pretty popular. I think you’ll like it.” Etta continued as she opened the door and walked on in.
The restaurant was busy and buzzing with the sound of people talking and eating, the clattering of plates and cutlery. You could smell the spices in the air. “I can almost taste it.”She muttered to herself rubbing her hands together in delight. Etta looked around the room for an open table. There are a few… oh! One by the window! “Hey I think there is an open table by the window.” Rochette said making her way towards it. It was open and a booth, but the lunch rush was coming to a close. So Etta was pretty sure that no one would need the booth.
She threw her bag onto the bench and slid in. She pulled her legs up and sat cross-legged, twitching her right foot to the beat of the music that was playing in her head. Etta put her elbows on the table, locked her hand together and let them fall in front of her. “So, why haven’t you gone out much? I mean it’s so beautiful! Everything about Hawaii is beautiful, the people, the landscape, history, food, everything! It’s all so cool you know?” Rochette ranted with a genuine smile on her face. Out of her own tendencies, Etta started to watch all of the physical movements Sophie made.
While listening to Sophie’s answer Etta had unlocked her hands and cupped her chin with one. “Well are you hungry? I sure am!” She said looking down at the menu with a smile. “So, how did you end up here at the academy?” Rochette asked opening her menu and began to flip through it. She knew that she asked, sometimes, a very touchy subject. Some didn’t care if people knew what happened, others thought it was the end of the world. Rochette didn’t mind people knowing, but she occasionally left out the larger details, mainly the story was she ran away after the change occurred.

Sophie walked up to Rochette and smiled as she greeted her. Sophie responded with a hello and they walked into the restaurant. She followed Rochette to a table by the window and sat down in the bench that Rochette had not occupied. She removed her bag and placed it beside her in the bench. She placed her hands in her lap and looked around the restaurant. It was very crowded but starting to slow down. Maybe this was a bad mistake. There were countless people here and she was starting to feel uncomfortable. She listened to the rustle and bustle of the workers and people eating here. She took a deep breath and then faced Rochette while grabbing a menu from in front of the window.
“So, why haven’t you gone out much? I mean it’s so beautiful! Everything about Hawaii is beautiful, the people, the landscape, history, food, everything! It’s all so cool you know?”
She agreed with that. The weather here was very nice. It was always warm; never too cold. In fact, she doesn’t think she’s worn a sweatshirt since she came to Hawaii. Well her long sleeve shirts don’t count because she can’t even feel those on her anymore. The people she didn’t know about. She didn’t really talk to anyone. She didn’t make herself go out and meet new people. Well accept for today. That didn’t count though. She wanted to know why did didn’t get out much? Sophie thought of on how to reply. “I don’t like being around people.” Sophie admitted. She could be honest with Rochette. Well she hoped that she could be honest and it wouldn’t come back and stab her in the back. “Well are you hungry? I sure am!” Sophie nodded and looked through the menu. She passed over spicy food and wrinkled her nose. She didn’t like spicy food and went right to the sandwiches. She spotted a ham, cheese, and turkey sandwich that looked good. She decided that she was going to order that. “So, how did you end up here at the academy?” Sophie paused and then reached for her bad where she fumbled around for her phone taken aback on the question Rochette just asked. No one discussed that topic. For some people, it was painful. For others it was a dark moment. For others they hurt the ones they loved. Sophie looked down at the phone in her hand the ran her finger over the picture of Nicholas as her screen saver. For Sophie, it wasn’t one reason why she came here. It had been a snowball effect of what happened as she grew up and moved to Washington. Sophie looked around the room to make sure no one was listening. She then looked down at the picture on the phone while answering in a soft voice. “I-I was bullied. I am shy. I’m not a people person. My parents thought it was best for me.” It was the first time Sophie had admitted the bullying to anyone besides Nicholas. She wasn’t sure why those words just escaped from her mouth. It was almost like this school possessed her to talk about things she didn’t want to. A vague memory of telling Ryan the same thing she had just told Rochette. She felt defeated telling her roommate something she didn’t want anyone to know. She slumped against the back of the bench as if it was a life line. Sophie looked up at Rochette with helplessness in her eyes.
