Major Explanation: As a feline shift, Casca is naturally intelligent and curious, often preferring to stay behind in his study and read about which actions could be taken before he chooses, much like a cat studying his prey before pouncing. Overall:
Casca is very analytical, often taking his sweet time responding as he thinks of just the right words. He speaks in a relatively succinct manner, choosing to make everything to the point and short, using very few words to get his point across and get it across well. He's very open, not keeping anything about himself secret, but not putting it out there openly. If you ask him, he will tell you straight up whatever it is. He doesn't believe in keeping secrets, and knows that he's done nothing in his life that he needs to keep from anyone. Mistakes are learning experiences to him, even though he may still be embarrassed by them. Casca enjoys learning, but when it comes to hands-on approaches, he feels that he does better when given a manual for the same project and just allowed to sit there and read it.
He doesn't care for many people, and not even he knows how you might gain his affections, and really, why would you want to? He enjoys the company of very few people, mostly fellow intellectuals and some people who he secretly enjoys.
Casca is against drugs, alcohol, cursing, and violence. He finds it juvenile and unneeded. He's only cussed a few times in his life, when he honestly couldn't find the words he needed- an extremely rare occurrence indeed. Because of the fact that he only resorted to cursing when he didn't have anything else to say, he figured that it's only used when the speaker has no better arguments. Alcohol and drugs for obvious reasons, as he believes they impair the user, as they do. Violence, because he believes there was so much unneeded bloodshed in history, and while it makes for interesting reading, he'd much rather talk it out than call to arms.
Casca is sort of selfish, loving to be held in high regards and thoroughly enjoying when he's praised publicly for something, or his name is well known. He puts people down from time to time, but not in a way and not enough that it's attached to his name for long. He's pretty laid back and calm, never really getting angry, except for a few times as mentioned above. He's not particularly riled up when he gets angry, but it's shocking simply because he doesn't do it that often. His expression might change, lips furling to a snarl and his brows dipping in. His voice might lower and gain a threatening edge, but he'll never do much towards the other person.
Despite all of this, he's a gentleman, despite his analytical properties lending themselves to an air of unwarranted self importance and a condescending tone. He is capable of holding a pleasant conversation, complete with a few cute smiles and some nice discussion. Still, if he is to be attracted to anyone, they had better be near his intellect, and be quite alright with gentleman's chivalry.
... appearance

Celebrity Play By: Beck Hansen (younger, with shorter hair.)
Appearance:
Casca isn't the type to go all out, often choosing comfort over fashion. He still likes his styles, don't get me wrong, but he does it subtly. He likes to look classy, having a wide array of scarves to choose from and several racks of blazers. A nice watch or a pretty ring is all he does as far as jewelry is concerned. Sometimes a pair of reading glasses sit on his head, and sometimes he just goes without. It really depends on his mood that day.
His hair is huge, pretty much. It's a dark blonde when it's sort of bleached by the sun, and a sort of brown when it's not. He does a lot of reading outdoors, so it's almost always bleached. It curls around his ears, often puffing out way beyond them. The lower layer is brown, and the top layer bleached, as said before. It's only wavy on the top, but curls heavily on the bottom. Sometimes he manages to make it decent, however, and it's only slightly wavy with the heavy use of a flatiron and product.
He's pale, not sickly, but enough to be called pale. His eyes are blue, to go with his complexion, and are a bit deep-set, but not so much that it detracts from his appearance. His face is boyish, rather rounded without a very pronounced chin. His lips are full and rosy, with the lower lip being the larger of the two. His teeth aren't perfect, with it being apparent that he may have needed braces as a child, and this can be seen when he mouth is relaxed, with only a tiny bit of his upper teeth seen.
He's around 5'6, pretty average, and a bit on the skinny side, but not model-skinny. He's got his share of pudge that's out of his control, just not enough that you can see with his shirt on. To be honest, though, he doesn't mind in the least. [/size]
... history
Parents: Renard Casca (father, lynx shift) & Elena Perriot-Casca (mother, poodle shift)
Siblings: n/a
To understand Casca, one must understand his parents. Born and raised in Quebec, Renard and Elena met while teaching English studies at a college in French Canada. This lent itself to his name, a joke on two conspirators (Gaius [Caius] Cassius Longinus and Publius Servilius Casca Longus) in William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. It also lent itself to his personality.
Being raised in a household that spoke Quebecois, but was well learned in everything English, Casca was raised to speak both and honor the English language and it's contributors as a whole. He was reciting lines from Romeo and Juliet as soon as he could learn to talk, and his accent was heavily influenced by both languages, causing him to be the oddball of French Canadians and Englishmen alike. When he grew up, he knew he was different. He had a natural spark towards language and flow, and he knew it- most regarded him as a prodigy in the world of words. He wrote several novels, all of which were just his ranting thoughts, and had them stored under his bed for some time. Every birthday was a box of pencils and a set of new books or journals to write in, while the neighbor kids got bikes and game systems. Honestly, it worried his parents quite a bit.
By his thirteenth birthday, they knew what was going to happen, and he had only a vague idea. Gone were the notebooks and pencils, and in it's place was a freezer full of raw meat. He sat in shock, not really knowing nor understanding what was about to happen. His father knew, however, as lynx shifts ran in the family males. Casca was locked in his room, most of his possessions taken out to preserve them in case he got violent, but his mother was certain he would keep his head. She'd never seen him be violent in his life.
The clock struck 12, and instantly he felt his muscles lock up. His nails grew fast enough that he could see them, and a small tuft of fur started sprouting from his ears, which migrated to the top of his head. His nose lengthened a little, and shrunk. Suddenly he could smell everything- the pencil shavings under the carpet, the bits of orange juice he has spilled a week or so ago. His eyes widened and the pupils grew before settling into the smaller sockets, and his legs shortened, the longer nails now digging into the carpet. He knew the feeling of his curly hair, and now that feeling was all over. He was very warm, and curled up over the air conditioning vent, trying to hold in the urge to rip something to shreds, not noticing that his claws were ripping up a fair bit of carpet around the vent. Eventually, nails cut and bloody, he fell asleep. Not long after that, his father walked in. He smiled, awkwardly pet the large cat behind the ears, and started filling out the paperwork for Shifter Academy.
... connecting human to animal
Apart from his appearance, Casca is very smart and weighs his chances appropriately, much like a cat deciding to attack or not. Many don't even notice he's in the room when he's there, like a cat's stealthy way of sneaking around. He's rather quiet, and has an air of authority and selfishness around him, and as all cat owners know, cats think they run the show at all times.
