Once Gabriel shook her hand, he released it and shoved his hands into his pockets. She seemed nice enough, at least. That is.. so far she seemed nice. Gabriel himself was taken aback when she mistook him for this 'Piscine' person. He wasn't quite sure who that was, but last he checked, it wasn't him. He glanced over at her, his face expressing the fact that he was confused. But she was already explaining to her mom that they had broken up. So this Piscine character was her ex-boyfriend. That made sense.
His attention turned back to her mother when she smiled at him and seemed to recover from her small mistake. ”Likewise.” He returned the smile, still somewhat forced as he was finding it a bit daunting to be in her presence. For whatever reason. But it didn't seem to matter too much as she turned her attention back to her daughter, now asking her if she was okay. Obviously she miscalculated what had gone on, as the shock on her face explained it all when she looked under the sheets. Gabriel grimaced and noticed her pleading eyes, wondering if she was worried that he might slip away while her mother was distracted. It was a tempting idea.
He bit his lip as she asked her mom whether or not she would be staying for a long time. She recovered some luggage she had brought with her. Should he feel bad for being relieved when she said she wouldn't be staying too long? Of course he didn't really want her to rush off, but at the same time he kind of did. He noticed she had seemed to bring Pinky some sort of entertainment and snacks, which was good since she was going to need them. And, although she had resorted to whispering, he could tell by reading her lips that she had apparently brought a more personal item.
Gabe was beginning to wonder how old he looked to her. At twenty one years old, he was sure he knew what those were. And less than a week ago he had spent the night at her house and was practically buried under her underwear, since she hadn't seemed to mind tossing them on him. But he would just let her think whatever she wanted to think, as it didn't seem like a good idea to tell her any of this. He was actually quite content to just stand out of the way and not say anything, but it didn't seem that was to be. She turned back to face him, the mischievous look from earlier gone and replaced with an all knowing stare.
Usually, however, it was in context with them implying that he should leave someone alone: whoever he liked at the time and their parents who thought he was a trouble maker. Following this look was her questioning him about taking care of her. ”What kind of guy do you think I am? Sure, I'll look after her.” It was just that – he was a guy. Apparently they were thought bad of half the time. People who were usually immature and irresponsible perhaps? He had shown up to visit, hadn't he? It wasn't likely that he would make her completely take care of herself after an accident like that. His gaze turned from Pinky's mom to Pinky herself. ”I also have to work a few hours tonight, but I can run by the beach and pick up your phone before then.” Or try to, if he could find it.

Pinky had a look that was becoming less and less amused by the second. It was only when Tandy faced her again that she perked up and smiled nonchalantly, though she couldn't help but to look at Gabriel every now and then, worried he might leave. "Really? That would be really, really wonderful, I mean, if you found it." She picked at her sheet absently.
Tandy seemed bored with the situation, and took to looking around the drab room. "This room is dreadful. It needs more.....well, everything,"
|
she mentioned, studying the too-small window that looked out at an empty courtyard. "Oh hey, are you hungry, sugar? I'll go get us something to eat. You still like seafood, right?" The bedridden girl seemed excited about the idea, and nodded in agreement. "Sure, Mom. I'll wait here," she insisted with a semi-annoyed look that she had no choice in the matter. She wondered when she would be able to walk around; then she wondered how much it would hurt. Tandy grinned knowingly, pulled a wallet out of the deflated canvas bag that still lay on the bed, kissed Pinky's cheek and flitted out the door. Knowing the woman, she would mostly likely get lost, distracted, or simply be gone for a very long while--which was just fine with her daughter. Throwing her head back into the pillows again, she sighed relievedly and eyeballed her friend greedily--finally he was all to herself. "Told you. She's super annoying," she said apologetically, waving her hand in the air errantly. "But she's gone now." That mischievous twinkle returned to her eyes, and she gave him her best wolfish grin. "Which means that we can do naughty things." A joke, of course. Right? Yeah, sure! With her mother gone, she could continue her thought from earlier. What was that again? She was having a terrible time with her short term memory; glancing down, she realized that since her mother had arrived, she had been clenching the button in her hand constantly, releasing as many drug doses as she possibly could. It must have been a subconscious thing, she decided. At any rate, she felt good. Wait, she had been thinking something.... Pinky blinked a few times, and then shrugged, giving up. Her shoulders felt loose and gelatinous, and she could barely feel anything from below her waist, which was nice. "Gabey Gabe Gaberson, you have to try this stuff," she muttered, pointing in the relative direction of her IV bag.

[/blockquote] WC: 412 Tag: Gabriel! It didn't really bother him that he would have to leave to go to work later. There was a such thing as visiting hours and eventually he would have to leave, even if he was hiding from the doctors at the moment. Besides, she would need to rest sometime, and she probably wasn't going to do that while he was in there. Gabriel continued to stand out of the way quietly, until her mother left the room to go pick up food. When she was gone, he made his way back over to the chair beside the bed and sat down again. ”I can see the resemblance,” he teased lightly. Of course Pinky was not quite like her mother, thankfully. Somewhere between them was a line that separated the two personalities.
The look on her face gave away that she had a not-so-innocent comment coming up, which of course didn't bother him any. Gabe laughed at the idea. ”If this were a different situation I would probably take you up on that offer.” You know, if they weren't in a hospital where she was laying on a hospital bed because she was bitten by a shark. And it was a bit of a turn off, considering they were surrounded by sick people. It was now he realized that he was the one getting thirsty, but he didn't want to walk back out into the hall and get another drink. So he picked up the Dr. Pepper that he had bought her earlier and uncapped it.
He looked at the IV bag she was gesturing to; considering he was hurt, he didn't think he should try it. ”You should probably go a little easy on that morphine.” He wasn't sure if there was a such thing as morphine overdose, although he doubted it. But still, it was probably best to go easy on it. He took a swallow of the Dr. Pepper still in his hands and then returned the cap to it and placed it on the little table beside the bed. He sank into the chair comfortably and closed his eyes for a moment. It was now that he remembered she had been going to ask him something about their 'date.' It could be a friendship date, right?
”Oh yeah.” He opened his eyes to look at her. ”Did you have a question about the date? I thought you were saying something about it when your mom came in.” Though he could be mistaken and hearing things, considering he had forgotten what she said as soon as her mom walked in and started talking.

With a long look at the button, she put the morphine remote down on the table next to the bed for the first time since waking up. Gabriel was probably right, at any rate. At the moment, she trusted his judgment much more than she trusted her own. Besides, she was probably loaded up enough on it to last through the night--she had a feeling that she would sleep well.
The date? Oh, that's what she was thinking about earlier. Squinting and contemplating, she finally managed to find the words she had been looking for. "Right! I was going to say that it should be a real date, and that you should totally kiss me afterwards." That was probably not the way she had been planning to say it earlier, but the idea was the same. She smiled at him sweetly, the fingers of her right hand tapping at her lips boredly.
She could see herself dating Gabriel--they were alike in enough ways to enjoy each other's company, but just different enough to keep things interesting and spontaneous, the way she liked it. Willy seemed to approve, which was enough to convince Pinky. There were numerous reasons that she would have a relationship with him, she decided; one of them was his butt, but that was a very small reason.
While thinking about matters of the heart and trying to be charming, the Dr. Pepper bubbles in her stomach exploded and she belched like a NASCAR driver. She seemed bemused for a moment, looking to Gabriel to see if he recoiled in disgust, and then fell into hysterical laughter. "I am such a redneck!"
|
she chirruped, covering her mouth and letting her eyes well up from hilarity. She hadn't wanted to cry out of pain or sadness, but if it happened because of excitement, that was fine. The tears rolled down her face, and she laughed until her diaphragm ached from the effort. Gradually quieting, she let out one last chuckle before settling back into the pillows and wiping at her cheeks. "Okay, so...I'm gross and you probably don't want to go anywhere with me ever. That's fine." The titles of the magazines her mother had brought finally caught her eye, and she scanned them. Half of them were in Portuguese; Tandy probably hadn't even noticed when she snagged them from a newsstand in the airport. A few were very grown-up looking, Time and Stock Market. Really the only one that excited her in the least was the one about tattoo artists. Maybe, after this ordeal, ink would be in order. Gabe was a little surprised that she actually took his advice and put the button to the IV down. At least for awhile anyways. Gabriel wasn't sure whether she was trying to remember what she had been going to ask him or whether she was trying to figure out how to word it. Finally she voiced it and was rather straight to the point about it. And it seemed it wasn't a question at all. It wasn't exactly what he had expected to hear from her, though. ”So you want to go on an actual date?” he asked. And of course, he couldn't forget her mention about a kiss. ”Oh, I don't know...” he teased, putting his hand up to his chin and pretending to think about it.
They hadn't known each other that long, but he has enjoyed hanging out with her during the time that he has known her. Besides, it was probably better that way. It wasn't usually a good idea to date people you were really good friends with in case anything with wrong. Because most of the time you not only lost the person you were dating, but you lost them as a friend as well. Gabe smiled and shrugged. ”Okay, sure. A real date it will be. And, I suppose, I owe you a kiss after it's over.” He wouldn't complain about this, but he didn't think he should seem extremely excited about it either. Even if he was looking forward to it.
He was surprised when she belched from drinking the carbonated drink and she seemed to expect some type of reaction from him, considering she looked at him afterward before breaking out into laughter. He laughed and shook his head in disbelief. ”Well, at least you're feeling well enough for that,” he told her. When she stopped laughing he shrugged at her comment. ”Why, because only guys are allowed to do that?” he said laughing again. Well, this was untrue. Although some people did think women shouldn't do that, at least not in public.
Gabriel noticed she was looking at the magazines her mother had brought her and he picked one of them up. 'I didn't know you could read Portuguese.” He surely couldn't. None of the magazines seemed to be all that interesting. They wouldn't be for him and he was pretty sure they wouldn't be for her either. ”I'm not so sure she took the time to pick out magazines for you that she thought you would like,” he said, putting down the magazine in his hand. ”Maybe I should bring you some magazines tomorrow when I bring by your cell phone,” he suggested.

Still recovering from her bout of laughter, it took her a while to process that Gabriel had agreed to her proposal. Feeling very satisfied with herself and a great deal woozy from the drugs, she stretched her arms behind her head and folded them there comfortably. Her left leg felt like jelly and her right leg felt like it wasn't even there, and that was just fine with her. As far as she could tell, her body ended at her navel.
"I can't read Portuguese," she informed him cheerily. "Not much anyway. It's kind of like Spanish, so I can guess at a few words here and there but most of the time I have absolutely no idea what's being said. It is a really pretty language though,"
|
she mused to nobody in particular. "My mom's kind of scatterbrained. She thinks that since my dad was from South America I automatically know all of those languages. If you would bring me an Elle, a Cosmopolitan, and maybe a Glamour, that would be fantastic. I don't even really know what the hell the stock market does." Reality began to feel more and more like a dream, and the corners of the white room sort of melded together and made everything seem round and odd looking. Gabriel stuck out from the paleness like a sore thumb, but that was okay--he was the most interesting thing to look at in there, anyway. Pinky gazed at him glass-eyed, contemplating him and realizing that they hadn't really known each other for long. She knew very little about him, but wholeheartedly believed that he was no axe murderer, which was enough. They would have things to talk about on their date, and things to discover about each other. "I think my mom is lost," she stated simply. Of course, she didn't worry too much; eventually the woman always found her way back to wherever it was she had been intending to go, even if it took a while. Her mother may have been a goose shift, but her homing abilities kind of sucked. Pinky was torn--on the one hand, she was becoming increasingly hungry and wanted her mom to bring her food; on the other hand, this was an extra few minutes that she could spend away from the excitable woman and her antics. She really didn't know what to hope for. "If you can't find my phone, don't worry about it. The tide probably took it out anyway; that's my luck. Good thing it's insured."

[/blockquote] WC: 420 Tag: Gabriel! Notes: herpderp

”I think I'll have to stick with English,” he told her, his eyes wandering back to one of the magazines. He agreed that it was a pretty language, though he thought most were since he wasn't accustomed to hearing them. That would probably be a problem he would have when learning a new language. If he didn't know people who could speak the language, he probably would forget what he learned, because he would need to speak it regularly to remember it. ”Okay, I'll pick you up some of them and bring them by tomorrow morning so you won't be here all day without something to do.” He couldn't help but to smile mischievously at this remark, despite trying to keep the perverted thoughts away.
”I'll try to find you some that are in English too.” Of course most were in English. At least the ones that were around the island were. But he couldn't help but joke about this since her mother had brought her ones that she couldn't even read. At least she could look at some of the pictures if she got bored enough. But then there was always the TV too if boredom presented itself. Which, he figured that wouldn't take too long. If he were in her place, he would have been bored within the first hour of being there.
”Well at lease she got lost on an island. If they have to send out a search party for her, at least it won't take too long to find her.” He probably shouldn't joke about it, but it was a serious advantage to being lost on an island. It wasn't a small island, necessarily, but it's better than being lost in like...Africa or something, right? Gabriel was getting restless sitting in this white room for too long. He didn't want to leave her there by herself, but he wasn't going to be able to spend too much longer in there without feeling the need to jump out the window.
”Well it's still worth a look. Were you out on Beluga beach?” There were a few on the island, so he didn't want to have to visit all of them to look for it. Knowing the specific beach narrowed it down a lot. ”Just so you know, I may have to run away when your mom gets back,” he joked. Perhaps he would be okay as long as she didn't give him anymore looks like she was going to try and seduce him.

"Beluga Beach," she agreed in a mumble. Colors looked three times as intense than usual and she was enchanted. She gave her shoulders a roll to make sure that they were still there, and yawned like a cat. Resting her head back and looking up at the ceiling, she felt like she was on a carnival ride and everything was spinning into a white cornerless blur above her.
"Trust me, I understand,"
|
she said in a flitty voice, closer to her usual one than she had used so far in that hospital room. "I would leave too if I had that option." Getting creative and a bit irrational, she contemplated the outcome of a wheelchair, a rope made of sheets, and her smallish window overlooking the courtyard. No matter how much she wanted it to, it never played out nicely in her head, and she gave up. "Do you think my leg is going to look gross forever?" she asked him. She really didn't sound worried, but curious. "It'll be kind of badass to say 'Oh that, yeah. Shark attack. No big deal.' you know? I want to get a tattoo and a motorcycle and skip college next year and just be awesome." As far as she was concerned, there was absolutely no problem with this plan. Already she was deciding what she was going to get a tattoo of, and her mind kept leaping back to seahorses; that would most likely be the outcome. It might seem vain of her to get an image of her shifted form permanently displayed on her skin, but she really wouldn't have chosen it out of any self-centered or egotistical motive. To her, seahorses were the epitome of fantastic; she had thought so even before her first shift, so many years ago. Vacantly, her mind began to take a stroll down memory lane. She remembered how cold the water was in that town center fountain, that first time--how confusing and difficult it was to try and grasp onto something with no arms before figuring out her prehensile tail; even then, there hadn't been any kelp fronds or reeds to hold onto, and for the most part she had just floated around in the circular, soft current. It had been frightening at first, but as the hours wore on, it became more and more relaxing. When her mother had finally come across her, lying nude and sleeping in the shallow waters of the fountain pool, she had already come to terms with her ability and only required the simplest of explanations. Pinky looked tired in his opinion. Maybe she needed to rest. He was sure she wasn’t going to want to sleep very much once she got out of all of this mess. Gabe got out of the chair and started walking around again, pacing himself back and forth across the room to distract himself. He laughed and nodded. ”If you were allowed to leave, we wouldn’t still be here, would we?” Gabriel would have taken her back to her dorm or something so she could rest there instead of in this horrible, dull room that could really use an expansion and a makeover.
He stopped and looked at her when she asked him if he thought her leg would look that way forever. He bit his lip as he thought about it and then shook his head slightly. ”No, I don’t think it will. Not as bad, at least.” Not that he had actually seen it, but he could guess and that was about as far as he wanted to get to knowing. But he was supposed to be “macho” about it, so he wasn’t sure he wanted to admit that he didn’t want to know. He laughed and shrugged. ”I guess it would be, but wouldn’t you rather it hadn’t happened?”
He figured that would be less painful and less of a hassle, rather than being able to tell everyone that a shark attacked you. ”A motorcycle, huh? I’ve been saving up for one since the end of my senior year.” He had the money for one, but he had to make sure he had money left over, because you never knew when you were going to need it. ”Well I have the tattoos covered and sooner or later the motorcycle, but I suppose I won’t get to be awesome since I went to college,” he teased. But he could be half awesome, since he had most of it, right? ”What kind of tattoo do you want to get?”
Gabriel himself didn’t really need any more tattoos. He had more than enough to last him, but he was so used to having them that he didn’t always notice them. He continued to pace around the room, not thinking of anything in particular, but finally stopped in front of the window. Down below he could make out some people, but none that he personally recognized. ”Have you ever been to the other island before?” he inquired randomly. Very few times had he been over there and he wished there were more places to visit. Sometimes it felt like they were literally in the middle of nowhere with no other population in sight. The island was not that small, but he had been there for several years. Too many almost.

At the moment that question seemed unfair to her; of course she would rather that the shark attack hadn't happened. Her future in shorts was changed forevermore, oh how dreadful it was. A cool scar and equally cool story were no trade off for her curvaceous, fantastic thigh. But hey, at least she had two feet.
The knowledge that Gabriel had aspirations of bikerdom excited her to no end. She suddenly found him four times more attractive, if that was even possible. "A seahorse," she answered quite happily, pulling the shoulder of her hospital gown aside to expose her trapezius muscle on her back. "Here!"
|
The idea of more body piercings excited her as well, but she couldn't really think of anywhere she would like to have a new stud. Perhaps her nose? The snakebites below her lip were a reminder of how good and strange that pain had felt, when she had gotten them. Whoa, was she a masochist? No..no....she didn't think so. She watched him, and his posterior, as he moved to the window. He asked about the other island, and she stretched her arms out behind her head again, growing restless the more tired she became. "A few times; I go to the club over there and party with the Normies." Normies had always been her name for the people of the world who could not shift. "I really just like to ride the ferry." She hadn't been in a while--she felt much more at home on the Shifter island, no matter how friendly and outgoing she was. There was an unmatched camaraderie between everyone on the island that could only be explained by the fact that they were all somewhat different. "Have you been over there?" Pinky's eyelids began to fight her, and she would close them for seconds at a time that would feel like eternity. It was going to be beyond easy to fall asleep, but she couldn't possibly do that with Gabriel there, his delightful booty drawing her gaze like a magnet. Her excitement about their date was growing exponentially with each passing moment; what was going to happen from there? Would they...you know....be together? Her fingers tapped as her lip while she thought that one through. Would they work out? They got along well, they were both fun-loving people, and well...... Surely it was going to be good. It had to be.

[/blockquote] WC: 400 Tag: Gabriel! Notes: take your time now, brandarious <3

”Right. I suppose getting a seahorse would make sense,” he said as he watched her point to where she planned on getting the tattoo at. Obviously he liked tattoos, considering he had quite a few himself. He didn't think people should cover their whole body in them or anything like that, but having a few was okay if that's what they wanted. Gabriel used to know some people who absolutely despised people who had even on tattoo, whether they would be able to see it or not. They continually told him to never get one. He told them he promised he wouldn't get one. The smart part of it was that he hadn't gotten just one – he got several.
He hadn't seen them since then, though, so they didn't know he had any tattoos at all. ”I've been over there a few times. I've never been to any of the clubs over there, though. It's not as fun going over there by yourself.” He shrugged. It was his fault, though because he never bothered to ask any of his friends if they wanted to go. At the beginning of the semester he had been too busy anyways with school and work both, but once everything settled down it was easier to find time to do things. ”I've been over there for my work too a few times, since they're the closest island around to associate with.”
Usually he went in person, but one time he had flown over there. That wasn't quite as fun, because he couldn't shift back into human form. Not unless he wanted to walk around without any clothes on and probably get arrested for it. He turned to look at her, noticing that she was getting a bit tired and probably wanted to sleep sometime soon. He walked over to her and sat down on the edge of the bed beside her, careful not to cause too much movement. ”It looks like someone is getting sleepy,” he said, laughing quietly. ”Should I leave so you can get some sleep?”
At least before her mom showed back up with food. But she couldn't go to sleep until she wrote down the details on how to feed the fish, so he didn't somehow screw that up and waste their food. He also needed to keep in mind to pick her up some magazines and go down to the beach to find her phone. And in a few short hours he would be getting ready for work too. He leaned forward and stopped short of her. ”You really should get some rest.” He kissed her forehead again and then checked his phone for the time. ”I have to go to work soon anyways.”

Her ears were beginning to tune out, making everything he said sound like what the adults in old Peanuts cartoons did--"wah wah wah" over and over. Confused by this for a moment, she wrinkled her nose and squinted at him, staring at his lips and trying to discern what it was he had said. Everything was moving slower and slower, and she thought that soon it might pause altogether. Like earlier, she could hear her own heart beating. Despite these strange sensations, she felt very sedated and calm, just as before. Morphine was the most genius invention ever. She had the presence of mind to recognize one word. "Sleepy? ......Nooo--well, yes," she mumbled daftly, "I think I'm going to take a nap soonish."
|
There was that dampness on her forehead again, and she swooned partly because of it and partly because of the delightful stuff racing through her body. Of course, he needed to leave. He did have a life, after all, and was responsible enough to know that he couldn't miss work on her account. She didn't blame him, though she wished that he could stay the night and keep her company. At the moment, she was far too drowsy to try and convince him to hang around, so she accepted the fact with a Buddha-like grace. "Well, don't forget about me, Gabey Gabe. I'll be here," she lilted, Zen aura dripping from her skin like melted butter as she molded herself more deeply into the mattress. No matter how uncomfortable the room, the bed, or even her state of being may be when she was sober, things were always better when working with only a sliver of one's though processes. Before she could sleep, she needed to make sure that her fish were taken care of. Almost drunkenly, she grabbed for one of the old people magazines from the stack of rejects, removed an advertisement page for TurboTax and pulled a curious green gel pen from her mother's canvas bag which still lay close to her legs. She scrawled on the advertisement, which was mostly empty anyway--damn those tree killing marketers, and murmured aloud with each pen stroke. "A teaspoon of brine shrimp in the bottom two tanks...Algae flakes for Willy and the Steves..." she continued to remark on each thing that she wrote down, until she had listed what could be considered as a full four-course meal for each fish, in each tank. Waving the paper in the air so that the gel would dry, she searched Gabriel's face with dilated pupils and a silly grin helplessly plastered on her face. "You're so awesome. Here's this," she said, handing it to him, "And....and...um, and...." Forgetting whatever it was she was going to say, she shrugged her shoulders in a small way and got comfortable again. "I'll see you later, right?"

[/blockquote] WC: 473 Tag: Gabriel! Notes: i was trying to wait a while so you wouldn't feel rushed about replying xD

He laughed at her small attempt to convince him that she wasn't sleepy. Indeed very small as she suddenly decided to just agree that she was tired. No matter what she said, though it was obvious enough that she was tired physically and mentally and lots of rest would help. Work was not the only reason he couldn't stay much longer. There was also the fact that he couldn't spend much longer in that small, white room without going crazy; this was one reason he felt sorry for her, despite the fact that a shark had almost eaten her. But honestly she was practically strapped to that bed with no way to get out of there. But between watching TV and sleeping a lot, he doubted it would matter too much.
Gabriel laughed again and shook his head. ”I'm not going to forget about you. We have a date, remember? Besides, I can drop in for an hour or so tomorrow and keep you company.” That was, as long as she wasn't asleep when he showed up. That also reminded him of something else. ”Oh yeah. It would make my life so much easier if you could have your mom tell the nurse at the front desk that I'm allowed to come back here.” That way he didn't have to sneak in every single time while she was in there. He really didn't want to be kicked out, because he never knew when someone else he knew would end up in there and he would need to visit them. ”Do you think she would do that for me? Or well, for you.”
He watched as she ripped out a piece of paper from one of the magazines and started scribbling something on it. He realized what it was for once she started reading it out loud as she wrote it down. Apparently he didn't need to remind her to write down the food for the fish. He smiled and nodded. ”I know I am.” He reached up and took the paper from her and glanced over it in case he had any questions. But it seemed to be straightforward enough, so he didn't think he would have any problems with feeding them. Gabe was just glad that she didn't have any roommates so that they wouldn't freak out when he showed up. At least he was pretty sure she said that she didn't have any.
He didn't press the matter when she forgot what she was going to tell him, because clearly she wasn't going to remember any time soon. If it was important, she would remember later, right? Gabriel nodded a bit and stood up. ”Tomorrow.”

Gabriel was so clever. Of course she would tell her mom to make sure he was on her visitor list; she couldn't have the nurses kicking him out all the time. "Of course, Gabey Gabe Gaberson McSexyPants. I'll tell her," she promised, fighting a yawn. She had no concept of time in that drab room, so wasn't sure if her exhaustion was appropriate for the time of day or if her body was just giving up for now. "Have fun at work. Build something cool,"

she offered, placing the back of her hand over her eyes to protect them from the fluorescence from up above. Just moments after this tidbit of advice, she was out like a light and dead to the world. The drugs had pushed her off of the edge of consciousness and numbed her entire body at that point, making sleep much simpler than it normally was without the aid of alcohol. There was a very primitive dream--nothing visual or tactile, but she could hear faint sounds of wind and water; it was very soothing and would keep her asleep for the entirety of the night. Shortly after Gabriel left the room, her mother returned with a few styrofoam boxes of take-out. After sitting next to the bed and eating her own food, she placed the other box into a microfridge next to the door, gathered her canvas bag and gave Pinky's bright hair a gentle stroke. A last minute thought came to her, and she pulled out the green gel pen from earlier and tore a familiar advertisement for TurboTax out of one of the magazines, writing "Call me if you need anything. Food in the fridge. Love you! See you at graduation!", and placing the note on the small table next to the bed. Tandy flipped the light switch off as she headed out the door. Once outside the hospital and standing in the empty courtyard, she stripped naked and placed her clothing inside the bag, pulled a few drawstrings to close it off into an odd backpack shape which she mounted on her back, and shifted into a long-necked, large goose. A moment later, and she took off with the peculiar satchel balanced on her back, wide wings flapping practiced under the weight as she flew toward the human island and its small airport. The States and an important business meeting awaited, and there were always other adventures to undertake.

[/blockquote] WC: 406 Tag: WE DONE, YO.
