Everard was expecting company for the second time ever, his roomy was out, and Tony was on his way over. The dorm wasn’t at its best so Everard was rushing around like a turkey with his head cut off. Everard went to change his cloths, changing out of his camouflage pajama pants and into a pair of blue jeans, and a forest green T-shirt, he left his boar skin boots in the closet and walked around the dorm barefoot his wire rim glasses resting on his nose. Everard went to the mini-fridge and pulled out a pitcher of sweet ice tea and two glasses and put them on the coffee table in front of the couch and TV, he flicked on CMT then picked up the bits of paper and garbage strewn around the dorm.
Everard finished picking up the garbage and went to the cupboard to pull out a Tupperware container full of Ma’s chocolate crinkle cookies. The little gems of chocolate goodness were rolled in powdered sugar before baking making them the most delicious cookies in the south, whose addictive properties were greater than cocaine. Everard touched the boar tusk necklace hung around his neck was a good reminder of his roots, even if his accent was waning and he was getting comfy with what his parents would think of as cushy living arrangements. Everard walked back to the kitchenette and grabbed a serving plate and piled a good amount of cookies on it then set the Tupperware back in the cupboard.
Everard looked around the Dorm to check his work, organized his desk a little better then took a seat on the couch and heaved a sigh, his Ma had taught him southern hospitality and good manners like every southern gentleman should have, it was so deeply ingrained in who he was he would probably never shake being a perfect host no matter where he lived. Everard heard the footsteps coming down the hall and then the knock at the door, he stood up, heaving himself off the couch and walking calmly over to the door, opening it smoothly, “Hey there tony why don’t ya come on in, and take a seat.”
