Gabriel had thought it was a nice day out. One good for shifting and one good for flying. He hadn't actually shifted in awhile. Lately it seemed like most of his time was taken up. Besides school and work, it was mostly his fault, because he had spent his time hanging out with friends. It was a good alternative, at least. Very rarely had he ever shifted around his friends. At times it could be a bit daunting, since you had to undress to shift. Otherwise your clothes would likely be ripped apart.
In his case, he was smaller than he was now after he shifted. Therefore if he shifted with his clothes on, he would shrink and probably be blinded by his shirt, because it would be on top of his head. It was even worse for smaller animals, such as mice or rabbits. And probably even tougher for people who shifted into aquatic animals. He made a mental note to ask Pinky about that next time he saw her.
Most of the places he knew where water was, they were big, open spaces and a place where people were likely to be found. Even people who were hyper, outgoing, and not really considered shy didn't want to just undress in front of people before they got in the water to shift.
He had walked into the forest so that he could have a little bit of privacy, but he didn't want to go too far in. He had to put his clothes somewhere where he would be able to find them again when he got back. Some people probably didn't mind if they lost their clothes after shifting, but he personally couldn't afford to buy clothes every single time he wanted to shift. Walking further in, he glanced back over his shoulder at the entrance of the forest. Nobody seemed to be around; not as far as he could see anyways.
He had always wondered if he had ever changed in front of someone who had already shifted and didn't realize it. It was a possibility, right? After the entrance was just out of sight, he stopped beside a tree and dropped his bag to the ground. It was just big enough for him to stash his clothes in until he got back. And it also would protect his clothes if it decided to rain.
He grabbed the hem of his dark green tank top that complimented his purple checked shorts and pulled it over his head. It was a little chilly in the shade with no shirt on, but soon that wouldn't matter. Just as he was about to stuff it into his bag, he heard a noise. He straightened back up and looked around for the source of the noise. Apparently he wasn't alone, even if he thought he was.

Jake walked along the beach with his toes digging in the sand. He was looking for sand crabs. Michael had taught him to dig his heel into the sand where the little holes were. Since the heel was digging into the sand crabs home, it would force the crab out of the home. Once the crab was out of the sand, Jake could capture it in his hands. Jake remembered doings this for hours when he was little with Michael. Michael would take him down the beach in the summer and they would look for sand crabs. Jake had loved it. He still loved it actually. He loved the feeling of the sand between his toes and he loved the feeling of the water dancing around his feet.
The one things Jake didn't like was the heat. It was hot as hell in Hawaii. He was use to Alaskan weather. It was pretty cold even in the summer. He would never wear shorts. He wore jeans year-round but that changed when he moved to Hawaii. He couldn't take the heat in the pants. The jeans seemed to keep the heat in and it didn't help when he was sweating all over.
Jake squished his heel into the sand again and a sand crab popped out. Jake smiled bending down to catch the sand crab before it crawled away. Before Jake could catch the small animal, the water swept it away.
"Well, crap,"
Jake muttered at the water. Jake frowned glancing back at his flip flops. They were sitting back by the trees. Jake looked around to see if anyone else was around. He smiled pulling off his shirt. He threw it back to his shoes. He also pulled off the sunglasses that were sitting on top of his hair and he threw them over to his shirt. He was now shirtless in his khaki shorts. Jake didn't mind. The heat actually felt good on his back. Looking around one more time, Jake shifted into his wolf form. It was nice to be the wolf because it meant he could run around freely. Jake barked happily running out to the water on all fours. He splashed around in the water. It cooled his body temperature down. Which was good considering he had a fur coat that was suppose to keep the wolves warm in an Alaskan winter. After running around for a while in the water, Jake decided it was time to go back. Jake trotted over to his shirt and sandals. He shook as much of the water out of his fur as he could. He looked around again and then shifted back into his human form. He was pretty much dry except his hair. The sound of the waves could be heard crashing behind him as Jake slipped on his shirt and slid into his flip flops. He picked up his sunglasses and placed them back on top of his head. Instead of taking the path back to his dorm, Jake decided to go through the woods. It reminded him of home. Except the trees were smaller and closer together then the trees back home. It didn't matter because it was the thought that counted right? Jake had been walking and not paying attention when he spotted a guy holding a green tank top. Jake stepped on a branch causing it to snap under his weight. The guys looked up and spotted Jake. Opps.... busted. Jake didn't care. He liked making friends. Maybe his guy was someone that Jake could be friends with. Jake smiled and waved to the other guy. " 'Sup? It didn't take him long to find the person, since he wasn't trying to hide or anything. At least he wasn't spying. Although it wasn't likely that someone would do that. This one seemed friendly enough from the looks of him. It was mainly the smiling and waving that gave it away, but he still didn't look like someone who would be a mean person.
" 'Sup? What are you doin' out in the woods?"
He thought it was pretty obvious what he was doing in the woods with no shirt on. "Enjoying the warm weather," he answered. It was better than explaining that he had planned on shifting. Although it wasn't really anything to hide, considering he could shift too. And for all he knew, he had done that just before he got where he was. "It got a bit boring being cooped up inside all day." His eyes scanned the boys outfit; he was dressed for warm weather too.
"So what are you doing in the woods? Passing the time by?" Most of the time when he went there, he didn't have anybody with him. It wasn't the best place to go unless you were looking for alone time. Or, like him, looking for a place to shift in privacy. As he stated before, however, it was no place for aquatic animals to shift. As far as he knew, there wasn't any water around. Unless there was a secret pond of some sort.
After a closer look at him, it dawned on him that he knew him from somewhere. But he couldn't put his finger on it. He thought about it as he pulled his tanktop out of his bag and put it back on. It finally hit him that he had met him on the internet, in the chatroom. "Jacob, right?" he asked as he picked up the bag and turned back to face him. "Or if I remember correctly, you wanted to be called by Jake." If he had the wrong person, it didn't really matter. It couldn't hurt anybody from a simple mistake like that. Besides, he only had a small picture to go by which was on the chat.
He hadn't actually met most of the people he talked to on the chat. Some of them went to the highschool, and others went to the college, while some weren't even in school probably. He knew Dymetri and had met Hugh off of there. And if he was correct about who this person was, that would be another person from the internet. His visit with Hugh had been great, but it had almost ended in trouble when he had told Elliot about it. He wasn't sure what that was about exactly. Even if he didn't really know Gabe, he knew Elliot. For all he knew, people who looked at him thought he looked like a player, or perhaps someone who would try and steal someone elses lover. This wasn't true at all since it was wrong and too much drama for Gabriel to deal with.

By the guy looked at Jake, he realized he had asked a stupid question. Why else would someone be out in the woods? To explore of the woods or to shift. Those were the only two reasonable explanations. Jake wanted to smack himself for being so stupid. The guy was probably going to shift considering he was shirtless.
"Enjoying the warm weather,"
the guy responded. "It got a bit boring being cooped up inside all day." Jake nodded slowly stuffing his hands in how pockets where he played with his ring as the other guy gave him a quick glance. Jake pretended not to notice this but he did. "That's cool. I'm not a fan of the warm weather." "So what are you doing in the woods? Passing the time by?" The guy asked pulling his tank top back out from his bag. "I was just at the beach and decided to take a walk through the woods instead of the path." Jake responded but he didn't think the guy heard him because he was obviously deep in thought about something. What, Jake didn't know. He didn't know if he wanted to know either. Guys minds could be...uh... interesting to put it in better words. the guy had turned around to pick up his bag and Jake was about to say something when the turned around saying, "Jacob, right? Or if I remember correctly, you wanted to be called by Jake." Jake gave the guy a really weird look. How the heck did he know his name? Jake had never seen the guy a day in his life. He didn't know him and he certainly didn't have any classes with him. In fact, the guy looked to be a little older then the high schoolers around here. Maybe he was the University he had heard a little about. It sort of creped Jake out that the guy knew his name and that he preferred to be called Jake. He hated his real name. The words thing was after that vampire movie came out, all the people at school would make fun of him. They would start signing: "Jake and Bella sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Eddie in a baby carriage!" He knew the guys were joking around but it had became annoying after the fifth time he heard it. The hatred for Jacob had really started after that movie. He had insisted his parents, mainly his mom, call him Jake. His mom wouldn't and still doesn't call him Jake. It's always Jacob. But anyway, back on topic, Jake said, "Uhh... yeah I'm Jake. How do you know me? I've never seen you before." Jake said leaning against the tree to get farther away from this guy who had obviously done some creepin' on him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/blockquote] "Talking""Other character"473 WORDSGabe TAGGEDLook above :] OUTFITtemplate by LISA@GBBS, lyrics by immortal technique CREDITNone NOTES [/blockquote]

"That's cool. I'm not a fan of the warm weather."
"Are you not used to dealing with it or do you just not like it?" Gabriel was a fan of wearing jeans himself, but he liked the warm weather too. The occasional hot days were okay too, but those were the days that he was going to take off his shirt and get comfortable, whether people liked it or not. It was a different story if it was hot and all air conditioning suddenly stopped working and they were left to roast in hot classrooms. Making himself do school work was bad enough and impossible if he were roasting.
"I was just at the beach and decided to take a walk through the woods instead of the path."
He nodded slightly at this thought. The beach - he had forgotten all about it. At least there was still that if it got extremely hot. "Feel like going back?" he asked, as he suddenly felt like doing some swimming of his own. The kid practically freaked out once Gabe had said his name. It was kind of funny. Here he was, worried that he hadn't remembered him from the start, and he didn't even have a clue who he was. Obviously he wasn't going to go back to the beach until this was sorted out. He laughed as he backed up.
"Uhh... yeah I'm Jake. How do you know me? I've never seen you before."
Did he think he was a stalker or something? Did he look like a stalker? He was beginning to wonder what people really thought about him. It was hard to tell. "Well, that's where you are wrong. We talked over the internet - on chat. That's how I know you." He shooks his head slightly; this was a bit awkward. "I'm Gabriel, by the way. Can we go to the beach now?"
Not that he couldn't go without him. He didn't need his permission to go. But he figured company for both of them might be nice if he ever remembered who he was. Despite trying to be nice about it, although slightly annoyed that he was interrupted before shifting, he didn't want to be seen as a creeper. That just wasn't down his alley and despite all the problems he had, his life was still more interesting than stalking people.

"I'm from Alaska. I was breed for cold weather. Not this freakin' volcano." Jake said bitterly. It wasn't that he didn't like Hawaii. In fact he loved the island but he hated the heat. He hated it so much. It was annoying because he could never cool down. He was always hot and trying to cool down. There were several nights when he would lay around in his dorm in just his boxers to attempt to cool himself down. And those nights, it didn't work. He would lay there half the night wide awake with a thin layer of sweat covering his body. "Feel like going back?" Jake looked at Gabe and then back to the general direction of the beach. He wouldn't mind going back. It wasn't like he had anything else to do. He would go back to the dorm laying on his bed hot, talk to people in the chat. Maybe he could even shift and run through the water again like before... He really like that. That was one thing he never could do back in Alaska. The water was too cold year round. It was never water you could run through, yet alone swim in. That was a plus for Hawaii, it was warm. "Sure why not. It's not like I have anything else to do." Jake gave the guy another weird look as he backed up as the guy laughed. Why was he laughing? Oh right, he flipped out 'cuz he had never seen the guy before and he knew his name. Why else would someone flip out! "Well, that's where you are wrong. We talked over the internet - on chat. That's how I know you. I'm Gabriel, by the way. Can we go to the beach now?"Jake wanted to smack himself in the forehead. Of course, how could he forget? He liked Gabe. He was cool. He just seemed like one of those people Jake would get along with. Now that Jake was looking at Gabe, he recognized him, even if the picture was tiny. Jake had wanted to meet him outside of the chat. "Oh right. I knew that Gabe," Jake laughed now more comfortable around the guy who was now Gabe. "Yeah we can go to the beach. It's nice. It's a lot of fun to run through the water." Gabe probably thought he was weird, but that didn't matter. Jake knew what he was talking about even if Gabe didn't. Jake turned and started to walk away. He looked back over to Gabe who was still standing by his bag. "Alaska? Well that's interesting. There's definitely a climate change between there and here." Gabriel was surprised that he seemed to agree before he truly found out why he knew his name. Especially since he looked like he wanted to run away rather than going back to the beach with him. It might have been a little weird that he knew what he preferred to be called, but honestly, they were on an island. Was it really that uncommon that he might have known his name? Then again, they didn't go to the same school.
Jake laughed as he came to sudden realization at who he was. Now they were getting somewhere - past this somewhat awkward meeting that he hadn't asked for. But now he was beginning to welcome the company, since it was someone he somewhat knew. He laughed and shook his head as the relief seemed to flow through him now. At least now he wouldn't think he was a stalker or something. "Well now that we have that out of the way..."
The boy turned to lead the way to the beach, but soon stopped and glanced back at him and said, "I thought you wanted to come to the beach." Oh, right. Well he supposed he should follow him if they were going to go. He tossed his bag over his shoulder and followed him through the woods.
He had been right when he said running through the water was fun. It hadn't taken them too long to get through the forest and to the beach. Gabriel, who was already in good swimming clothes, had left Jake behind in the sand and ran straight for the water. The only thing that had stopped him from taking off as soon as he had gotten there was ridding himself of his shoes and his bag that he had been carrying around. When the water had hit his skin, it was a slight bit cold to the touch, but he adapted quickly and soon the water grew to be quite warm.
"Come on!" he yelled over to him, making a half attempt at gesturing him into the water. There didn't seem to be too many waves at the moment, but that didn't matter. It was too bad that he couldn't have shifted and gotten in the water, but that was pretty much impossible with his bird shift. About the only way he could get in the water, was to stand at the edge of it and let the water go to him. So in the end it was just better if he stayed in human form, so that he could swim around and enjoy the water.

Jake nodded. Alaska was far and the climate was different. It was something he would have to get use to for the time he lives in Hawaii. He led Gabe through the woods. Nothing was awkward. They walked in silence; Jake didn't want to say anything so he didn't. He liked walking through the forest and thinking of the times he would run with Michael. He smiled as he remembered the time where he earned his scar. It wasn't a very good story but it had been fun... Until his jeans snagged on the bush and tore his shin up. It was a pretty obvious scar too. He silently cursed those bushes. He was glad there were no bushes like that in Hawaii.
Jake smiled as Gabe ran through the water inviting him in. He wondered why Gabe didn't shift. He knew Gabe was a shifter. They had talked about it once but he couldn't remember what his shift was. Jake ran into the water after losing his shoes, tee shirt, and sunglasses in a pile beside Gabe's bag. Jake stopped where the water was halfway up his calf. He stood still feeling the water run across his legs and the sand pass by his skin. He watched Gabe in the water. He was doing something but he couldn't figure out what it was. Jake shrugged and called out to Gabe. "I'm going to shift, hope you don't mind."
Before Jake heard an answer, he shifted and fell on all fours. He shook the water out of his fur and licked his lips looking around to see a large swell of water coming up to the beach to crash down against the earth. Jake yelped happily and ran straight for the water. He collided with the water at the exact moment the water hit its peak before crashing down. He yelped in the shock of the water hitting his body and the contrast of the cold water on his hot skin. He also yelped in delight of feeling free in the water. Once the water was gone, he waded farther from the shore. He swam in circles for a moment with his tongue hanging from his mouth. Jake swam the short distance back to the shore and stood on the beach trying to shake all the water and sand out of his fur. That was one thing he didn't like. The sand would get stuck in his fur and make it uncomfortable. It would irritate his skin. Jake looked up at Gabe with his icy blue eyes wagging his tail and a smile stretching across his snout -- if wolves could even smile. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/blockquote] "Talking""Other character"443 WORDSGabe TAGGEDDUHH OUTFITtemplate by LISA@GBBS, lyrics by immortal technique CREDITNuthin... Gabriel floated on his back, enjoying himself until a small wave crashed over his head and sent him under. Just as it did, he heard Jake say something, but the water washed out the noise. As he surfaced, he pushed his wet hair out of his eyes and looked around for him. "What-" He didn't get much more out as, the person who was Jake, was almost finished shifting. He noticed that he was shifting into a wolf; this didn't really surprise him, because it did seem like a type of shift for Jake. Not that he knew him all that well, but just from looking at him he could make a comparison to it. Although he hadn't, because it hadn't occurred to him to try and figure out the shift.
With his own, he couldn't get in the water to swim. Most of the time he didn't care, but seeing the wolf jump around in the water, having fun, it made him envy him just a bit. Even though it was a bit hard, for him at least, to tell what the expression of animals were, he could tell Jake was having fun in his wolf form. Maybe that's what he was doing earlier too, before he had taken a shortcut through the forest and found him.
Despite not being able to run through the water, however, he did have the advantage of experiencing actual flying. The first few times it had definitely been a shock to him. But now he was used to it, having done it plenty of times. Gabe began swimming towards the surface as Jake got out, but he stopped near the sand. After relaxing for a moment, he reached back for the water and sent it splashing towards Jake. He was unsure of whether the water actually even touched him, because he began swimming back towards the ocean and away from the wolf.
One of the bad things about shifting, was that humans couldn't understand animals, even if they did know how to shift. And, unless that person shifted into the same animal, they wouldn't be able to understand what they were saying in animal form. The lack of communication really sucked, but luckily they were smart enough to be able to communicate through actions since they had some control because of their human forms. He stopped a few feet away and turned back to him. "Come get me," he taunted lightly, gesturing to the water with his head.

he taunted lightly, gesturing to the water with his head. Jake titled his head and perked of his ears confused. He really wished that shifters would communicate with everyone while in their animal form. It would make things so much easier. Especially when Jake would hunt as a wolf. He could have picked out the shifters from the non shifters. He hadn't thought about killing a shifter while he hunted. He had never thought about it until Shi brought it up. Jake caught a smell in the wind he didn't like and he snorted the smell out of his nose. He looked back up at Gabe who was gesturing for him to do something…. He watched Gabe's lips move but it sounded like "Blah blah blah blah." Even though Gabe was speaking his native tongue, it was still very hard for Jake to decipher what he was saying. With the gesturing, Jake finally understand. Gabe wanted him to chase after him. Well this outta be fun, Jake thought. He barked a response showing that he knew what Gabe was saying. Jake placed one foot in front of him getting ready to pounce. He pulled his lips back and snarled at Gabe. He was only playfully snarling and hopefully Gabe for the idea. Jake bent down lower ready to spring whenever Gabe decided to move. Jake was about to pounce at Gabe when Gabe suddenly broke out in a run. Jake barked frustrated he didn't see that Gabe was going to move. He was getting rusty on his hunting skills. He'd have to improve those at some point. Maybe when he eventually went home. He could go hunting with Michael but that wouldn't work because Michael wasn't a shifter. Maybe his sister. But she was a cheetah. Jake shook his head, he shouldn't be thinking about this right now. Not when Gabe was getting away from him. Jake started out in a jog but then broke into a run. He had his serious face on – well, as much as a serious face a wolf could have… Jake ran and was close to Gabe. He needed to get a couple more feet before he could jump on his back and tackle him to the ground. Jake caught the smell of Gabe and other scents as the wind blew. The salt blew up into his nose and burned his senses. He snorted again in attempt to drive the smell from his nose. Still running, Jake was almost on Gabe. He growled almost on Gabe. Gabriel had temporarily forgotten that animals couldn't understand humans, and humans definitely couldn't understand animals. So he hoped that Jake would understand what his gesture meant at least. He was a bit cautious at first when Jake was snarling, unsure of what it was supposed to signify. But soon it grasped that he was playing along, so he felt a little better because of that. It wasn't often that he was playing around with someone who had shifted into their animal form. And rarely did he actually see anybody shift into their animals.
Despite being shifters, though, everyone pretty much maintained their humanity. Everyone knew how to act like normal human beings so that people wouldn't be able to guess their secret. Well, almost everyone did. There were probably a few people here and there that they had to worry about. It didn't take him long to realize that Jake wasn't going to go into the water as he had hoped. So his only other choice was to run and have him chase him. It took him a moment to pick up speed, but once he was out of the water he got faster.
Jake started off slow in his run but picked up his pace and stayed on his heels. He could shift and fly away if he wanted, he supposed, but he would have to ditch his shirt first or it would be stuck on him when he shifted. But that wasn't the only problem. Gabriel didn't have much practice in shifting and running at the same time, because it was hard to control what part of his body shifted first and what shifted last. His feet pounded into the sand and he realized he was starting to get a little tired. It didn't look like it, but it was much harder to run in sand than it was on grass.
He looked around until he spotted a good tree to climb and picked up his pace, heading straight for it. Once close enough he used the trunk of the tree to give him a leg up and he jumped up toward the branches. He used his arms mostly to pull himself up and his feet to keep the strain off of them. Gabe sat on the nearest branch and situated himself so that his back was leaning up against the trunk and he took a few deep breaths. "Damn you're fast," he said, half to himself and half to Jake. Even though he now knew he didn't understand what he was saying.

Jake growled frustrated as Gabe climbed up into the tree. He started to pace underneath the tree thinking of what to do. Jake couldn’t climb the tree. Wolves can’t climb trees. There was no way up into the tree then. Unless he shifted back into his human form but he didn’t want to do that. That was too much work. It was easier to just stay in his wolf form. Besides, he liked being a wolf. This was the most he’d shifted for the past couple months. He hadn’t had time before and now that he does, he might as well stay in wolf form.
Jake saw Gabe’s mouth moving but wasn’t sure what he said. Jake just shrugged and continued to pace back and forth. He’d look up every once in a while to see Gabe sitting in the tree branch panting. Jake hadn’t even ran at his full speed. How as Gabe panting and sweating! Jake glanced around and looked back to the beach where he’d just came from. He could see the trail he and Gabe made during the run. It had been straight, into the water, out of the water, zigzagged through the sand and ended right here. The whole chase had been a matter of minutes and Gabe was out of breath. He’d laugh right now if he could. Too bad he couldn’t.
He sat down in front of the tree with the tip of his tail wagging and his tongue hanging from his mouth. That was another great thing about being a wolf, he didn’t have to worry about being polite or anything like that. People expected most animals to be vicious and without manners. He had manners just not as a wolf. Damn, he was a stereotypical wolf.
Jake had enough of sitting there. He stood up and trouted over to where he left his clothes. He grabbed them in his mouth and went back into the woods. He stopped where he knew no one would see him. He shifted back to his human form and pulled on his clothes. He jogged barefoot back to where he left Gabe. stepped out from behind the tree. ”Man, you’re no fun,”
Jake grabbed onto the branch and lifted himself up. ”Wolves can’t climb. Guessing you knew that considering you are in a tree.” Jake laughed and looked at Gabe who was still tired. “You’re weak. You were outta breath after that jog,” Jake shook his head smiling. It was nice to have some friends to talk to outside the chat. Even though Gabe was at the University, maybe they could still be friends. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/blockquote] "Talking""Other character" 439 WORDSWHO?! Gabriel watched as Jake paced back and forth, apparently either trying to figure out what he was going to do, or waiting for him to get out of the tree. Which he wasn’t planning on doing just yet. It was quite nice up there if he said so himself. Finally he went to get his clothes so that he could shift back into his human form. He waited on him to do so, not really saying much else since it was pointless with him in animal form.
Soon Jake was back in human form and climbing the tree to sit on one of the branches. Gabriel laughed and shrugged, relaxing against the tree. ”Yeah. That was pretty much the whole point in climbing up here. Though it would be really cool if you could climb the tree in your wolf form.” But that was also impossible. He laughed again and turned his head to look at him. ”I’m not that out of breath. But I blame it on the alcohol I’ve been drinking. I should probably cut back on that.” Easier said than done, however.
He would just have to pick up on his exercise more often. It was also hard to cut back when he had a friend like Pinky, who also liked to drink. But he wouldn’t complain about something like that. There was a gym on the island that he could go to, but there really was no point when he could go to the one at the University. It was cheaper and easier to access. The only difference was that he only had access to it during the day. Going at night wasn’t possible, but that was when he usually liked to take a jog around the area.
”I just remembered that I left my bag back there.”He would just have to get it before they ran off somewhere else. Gabriel looked out at the sea, which was calm at the moment. Only a few, smaller waves. It was getting later during the day, though and it was always nice to watch the sea during that time. He had actually taken a nap under the same tree they had climbed one afternoon and woke up when it was later at night.
”So you’re a wolf shift, huh? I haven’t seen anybody shift into their animal form in awhile.” It seemed to be more of a private thing for some people, even though they were all the same way. At least as far as having the ability to do it went. "It's like they want to hide it."

“Yeah. That was pretty much the whole point in climbing up here. Though it would be really cool if you could climb the tree in your wolf form.”
Jake snort-laughed at the thought of a wolf attempting to climb a tree. Now that would be funny. “Too bad wolves can’t. That’d be cool.”
It would be helpful too when hunting. He could come up from above and attack the animals from a different angle. It would put a whole new meaning to hunting. Only if he had opposable thumbs as a wolf. He’d be the king of the forest and the island. “I’m not that out of breath. But I blame it on the alcohol I’ve been drinking. I should probably cut back on that.” Jake didn’t drink and that was the reason for it. It affected his hunting and running abilities. He’d had beer once and didn’t like the taste for it. Besides, he was 18, he couldn’t legally drink yet. There were already a bunch of younger students drinking here and the only reason why he knew was because he had smelled it, heard them, and seen them drinking. Now the hangover part was not fun because it had the whole dorm smelling really bad of liquor, alcohol, and puke. He hated those scents combined. “That’s why I don’t drink.” When Gabe said he left his bag out on the beach, Jake looked down at his feet. Opps, he was barefoot. He had left his shoes back at the beach too. Oh well, he could get ‘em later when Gabe got his bag. “That’s alright, I left my shoes and sunglasses back at the beach. We can get your bag later.” “So you’re a wolf shift, huh? I haven’t seen anybody shift into their animal form in awhile. It's like they want to hide it.” “I am a wolf shift. I love it. What are you?"What Gabe just said didn’t make any sense to Jake. Why wouldn’t anyone want to shift? It makes him feel free and like he’s in control. Away from the teachers, students, roommates, and problems in his life. It was his one escape. The thought of not shifting didn’t seem to sit well with Jake. "Why not? If everyone knows that everyone shifts, why wouldn’t they want to? It’s almost a… freedom. Why would someone want to hide who they really are? It’s not like only some of us shift. Everyone here does. Even the teachers.” - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/blockquote] "Talking" "Other character"412 WORDSGabe TAGGEDAbove ^ OUTFITtemplate by LISA@GBBS, lyrics by immortal technique CREDITSorry about the short length... Gabriel glanced over at Jake and smiled. ”Well good for you for not drinking.” He tried to make it sound as sincere as possible, because that's how he meant it. It really wasn't the best habit to get into. He would know. He wasn't one of those kids, however, that started at a really young age. Nor did he start it because he thought it would make him seem cool. It was just something he liked. But he only really liked it when he was having fun, though sometimes it was hard to stop. That's why he had some problems with it.
”That's okay. I'm not in any rush to go back and get them yet.” And he wasn't in much of a rush to leave either, since he was rather enjoying himself. ”See, at least there's a positive thing about warm weather. You can go swimming in the ocean and not freeze once you get out.” At least not right then, but it did have it's moments. Like every place did. He tore a twig off of a limb and twirled it between his fingers. It gave him something to do at least.
”A falcon. That's why I couldn't shift in the water. I really don't have a death wish, especially by drowning.” Gabriel shrugged at his questions; was he supposed to have all the answers? Sometimes he wished he did. ”I don't know. I guess they're just embarrassed. The same way everyone has their funny moments. But some people still get embarrassed by it. Or, even though everyone knows how to hug people, some don't like to do it in front of others.” They were natural things, but people still got embarrassed by them. Although shifting was natural for them, but it wasn't for the whole world.
That wasn't something they had to be embarrassed about, though. After all, they weren't even allowed to shift in front of non-shifters, let alone tell them that they could do that stuff. It did make him feel a bit special because of this fact though, he wasn't going to lie. ”Maybe some people don't like their shifts. I think a few might not even like to shift.” He didn't personally know anybody like that, but he was sure there were people like that. ”People hide who they really are all the time. I don't think it would stop just because they can shift.” Gabe didn't want to sound mean about it. That's just the way things are.
